1. What islands/replica wormholes are now agreed to establish
[INFERENCE, within controlled settings] The QES/island formula, justified by replica-wormhole saddles of the gravitational path integral, computes the fine-grained radiation entropy and returns a unitary Page curve: Penington (arXiv:1905.08255, JHEP 09 (2020) 002); AEMM (arXiv:1905.08762, JHEP 12 (2019) 063); PSSY (arXiv:1911.11977, JHEP 03 (2022) 205); AHMST (arXiv:1911.12333, JHEP 05 (2020) 013). Consensus reading: Hawking omitted saddles, not physics beyond the semiclassical regime.
Not established [OPEN]: the mechanism of information escape; the interior encoding (leading proposal: non-isometric codes protected by complexity — AEHPV, arXiv:2207.06536 [SPECULATIVE]); a controlled derivation for a realistic asymptotically-flat, dynamically-formed 4D black hole; higher-dimensional replica saddles beyond braneworld constructions.
2. Standing objection 1 — ensemble vs. single theory [CONTESTED]
- PSSY read replica wormholes as an implicit ensemble average; Marolf–Maxfield formalize baby-universe α-sectors with exact null-state degeneracies (arXiv:2002.08950, JHEP 08 (2020) 044).
- Contra genericity: Schlenker–Witten — connected geometries never contribute to sub-black-hole-threshold observables — proven in 3d via renormalized-volume methods; ensemble-nonexistence argued in higher-d examples (arXiv:2202.01372, JHEP 07 (2022) 143); apparent averaging traced to black-hole chaos.
- 2025–2026 continuation: the OP-50 closed-universe debate (Harlow–Usatyuk–Zhao arXiv:2501.02359 vs Engelhardt–Gesteau arXiv:2504.14586, Antonini et al. arXiv:2507.10649) and the Kudler-Flam–Witten fixed- non-convergence / averaging-over- line (arXiv:2510.06376, 2605.15180) — both already registered in the wiki (OP-50; OP-44 fourth option). No theorem either way for a single unitary theory underlying island entropies.
3. Standing objection 2 — massive graviton / gravitating bath [CONTESTED]
(The orchestrator brief's "massive gravitino" appears to be a slip: no gravitino-based objection was locatable; the literature objection is the massive gravitON.)
- All controlled island constructions (Karch–Randall brane + non-gravitating bath) have a massive graviton; island contributions vanish in the massless limit (Geng–Karch, arXiv:2006.02438, JHEP 09 (2020) 121).
- Islands as entanglement wedges disconnected from the asymptotic region strain the gravitational Gauss law in long-range massless gravity (GKPRRRS, arXiv:2107.03390, JHEP 01 (2022) 182); with a gravitating bath the radiation entropy becomes time-independent (arXiv:2012.04671, SciPost Phys. 10, 103 (2021)).
- 2023–2026: string-embedded islands with parametrically light (nonzero-mass) gravitons inside massive-gravity EFT validity (Demulder–Gnecchi–Lavdas–Lüst, arXiv:2204.03669, JHEP 02 (2023) 016); Gauss-law argument extended to low dimensions incl. JT (Geng, arXiv:2312.13336, SciPost Phys. 19, 146 (2025)); island formula derived via replica wormholes on the KR brane (Geng, arXiv:2405.14872, JHEP 01 (2025) 063); consolidated position + proposal of a new entanglement-wedge notion for massless gravity (Geng, arXiv:2509.22775).
- Opposing camp: Raju et al. holography of information (review arXiv:2012.05770 unverified journal-ref: Phys. Rept. (2022); wiki A2 cluster) — in massless gravity boundary data is complete, islands unnecessary. Its Dec-2025 refinement (GJST arXiv:2512.18912; FINDINGS iteration 11) has dressing re-localizing information. Convergence: both camps now locate the deciding structure in the gravitational dressing; they disagree on what it implies.
4. The von Neumann-algebraic turn — proven vs conjectured
Proven (mathematics; physics status = perturbative/strict large-):
- Type IIIII crossed product; BH entropy defined up to an additive constant (Witten, arXiv:2112.12828, JHEP 10 (2022) 008).
- dS static patch + observer Type II; vN entropy ; max-entropy state (CLPW, arXiv:2206.10780, JHEP 02 (2023) 082). The crossed product installs the observer — without one, no nontrivial gauge-invariant static-patch observables.
- Microcanonical large- algebra II; replica-free special case of QES; a version of the GSL from entropy monotonicity (CPW, arXiv:2209.10454, JHEP 04 (2023) 009).
- Arbitrary Killing horizons incl. Kerr and collapse (KLS I, arXiv:2309.15897, PRD 111, 025013); general subregions (JSS, arXiv:2306.01837, JHEP (2023) — wiki-verified coordinates JHEP 12 (2023) 020); physical clocks / cosmology (arXiv:2406.02116, 2406.01669 — wiki-verified iter 6); complete constraint group + edge modes (KLS II, arXiv:2601.07910); per-cut subregion algebras, GSL for non-stationary linearized perturbations, QFC proven within the perturbative regime (Chandrasekaran–Flanagan, arXiv:2601.07915).

Conjectured / open: any nonperturbative statement (OP-44's , theorem-free both sides — unchanged); fixing the additive constant / deriving the count; removing the installed observer/clock/corner-symmetry input (A-CP-KILLING pattern — unchanged).
5. Bearing on the wiki [INFERENCE]
No verdict-relevant change; precision upgrades only: (i) GC-4 gains the two-legs framing + named objections; (ii) GC-5 gains the factorization-premise reading; (iii) GC-13 syncs to the linearized-order theorem grade; (iv) BIBLIOGRAPHY discharges the island-coordinates [unverified] rider and gains the objection clusters + founding trio. The encode-not-generate headline is untouched: every Type II construction installs its observer/clock/corner symmetry; the island debate concerns which EFT bookkeeping is right, not geometry-generation.
