TRACK D1 — Falsification assault on Pillar 1 (encode-not-generate / carrier no-go)

Mandate: assume the pillar is WRONG; build the strongest possible case that algebraic/entanglement/modular structure GENERATES Lorentzian metric geometry from non-symmetric (algebra, state) data without installing the signature by hand; push it maximally; then honestly assess survival.

Outcome: FAILED-TO-FALSIFY. The strongest 2026 candidate is genuinely new and genuinely the closest-to-generation construction since Cao-Carroll — but it collapses at the exact installation step the pillar names, and it yields only an internal symmetry, not generated spacetime (the authors concede no explicit emergence mechanism).

The strongest attack I could build (steelmanned to its limit)

Fullwood, Vedral & Guzman-Gonzalez, arXiv:2604.07471 (8 Apr 2026), "On Lorentzian symmetries of quantum information." This is the best available falsifier because it makes the one move no prior construction made: it claims the Lorentzian (1,3) signature is an OUTPUT, derived from an information-theoretic principle, not a posited eta/Krein form or symmetric-vacuum inheritance.

  • Input: Herm_2(C), the real vector space of qubit observables, basis {1,X,Y,Z}.
  • Derived (not posited): linear entropy S_L(rho)=Tr(rho)^2-Tr(rho^2) satisfies S_L(rho)=2 det(rho).
  • "Preservation of linear entropy" => preservation of det(rho)=t^2-x^2-y^2-z^2 => transformations are SL(2,C) conjugations => spin homomorphism SL(2,C)->SO+(1,3).
  • Two-qubit singlet correlation C(O1,O2)=1/2(det(O1+O2)-det(O1)-det(O2)) polarizes to C(O,O)=det(O), "precisely the Minkowski metric on qubit-observable space," full group SO(1,3).

Taken at face value this defeats HYP-ENCODING-SCREEN: Minkowski signature + full Lorentz group from abstract QI, no symmetric vacuum, no Poincare rep, no causal order, no Euler element, no hand-installed eta. I pushed it as hard as it can honestly go.

Why the attack does not survive (the exact installation step)

The (1,3) signature is installed by the CHOICE OF CARRIER, not generated. Web-verified elementary fact (Stange, math.colorado.edu; nLab): the determinant on 2x2 complex-Hermitian matrices is a quadratic form of signature exactly (1,3), unconditionally — a fixed structural fact of Herm_2(C). So:

  1. S_L=2det is a tautology of the carrier, not a derivation of signature: det is (up to scale) the unique SL(2,C)-invariant quadratic form on Herm_2, intrinsic to the complex 2-level Hilbert space. Choosing C^2 (vs R^2 / H^1) installs the indefinite form. This is precisely HYP-CKV-VACUITY-R3 item (ii) (an indefinite-pairing/(n,n)-flag axiom) and the iter-7 modular-form trichotomy result: the indefinite datum rides along with the *-algebra/complex structure — "the Krein eta relocated into the definition" — exactly the g3/J role iter-7 proved sits on the reflection-positive (Euclidean) side.

  2. Maps onto iter-3 g1-g7 / N1-N4 and fails on four independent fatal counts:

    • g5 / N3: Herm_2(C) is a hand-chosen single local-subsystem (qubit factor = surrogate factorization, kappa_Phi>0). Dimension 3+1 fixed by choosing a 2-level system, NOT derived (authors concede).
    • indefinite-pairing smuggle (the added g_a item, iter-6): the (1,3) form = the determinant, intrinsic to the posited carrier.
    • N4 / localization: no locality, no net, no causal order, no observable->point map (authors' own statement). It is a kinematic internal symmetry on one/two qubits, not emergent SPACETIME. This is the carrier/localization step (HYP-FACTORIZATION-IS-GEOMETRY route 5) failing identically to eta_0 in iter-7: indefinite form exists, but non-localizable.
    • circularity falsifier (clause iii): no non-symmetric state is what produces geometry — the singlet is a fixed maximally-symmetric state; the structure is state-independent / kinematic.
  3. No spacetime — only an internal symmetry; the authors concede no mechanism. Verbatim conclusion: "the formulation of an explicit mechanism for such an emergence of spacetime from quantum information remains an open and profound challenge," and they merely "speculate" the SL(2,C)->SO(1,3) map "is not merely a mathematical correspondence... but a mathematical description of how spacetime emerges." An honest falsification needs a referee-survivable generative construction; the authors concede they have an internal Lorentz symmetry, not generated spacetime. They claim the relativistic form emerges but concede no spacetime-emergence mechanism; structurally the form is intrinsic to the complex carrier, so the break fails on the mathematics regardless of the authors' framing.

Cross-check: every other 2025-2026 candidate closes at the same step

  • arXiv:2606.11984 (emergent modular Virasoro / Rindler-like GNS, type-I->III_1): presupposes a fixed Euclidean CFT cylinder + conformal vacuum + split property. ENCODE (g2,g3,g5).
  • arXiv:2412.20410 (Neeb-Olafsson "geometric perspective on nets of standard subspaces," May 2025): Euler wedges as the index set, Reeh-Schlieder cyclic-separating vacuum, a posited Lie-group representation. Net

The pillar survives its strongest assault. The exact, reusable installation step that defeats every 2026 candidate: *the Lorentzian signature enters through the choice of carrier — the complex -structure / determinant form (Fullwood-Vedral), the Euler element (Neeb-Olafsson), or the conformal vacuum (2606.11984) — and never as an output of non-symmetric (algebra, state) dynamics. The Fullwood-Vedral construction is the most honest test yet because it isolates the signature question to a single qubit and still only relocates the indefinite form into the carrier's complex structure while conceding no localization mechanism. No referee-survivable generative construction exists.

  • Carrier-convergence count: stays FIVE (no new route; no sixth convergence).
  • Principal hedge HYP-CKV-VACUITY-R6: UNMOVED (grade and condition unchanged).

Anti-crank compliance: every cited arXiv ID, author, theorem, and the (1,3)-determinant fact is web-verified; the authors' self-disclaimer is quoted verbatim from their conclusion; no citation, number, or theorem fabricated. The break-attempt was pushed maximally and reported failed for the precise stated reason, not redefined into a pass.


TRACK D1 REFEREE — defense of Pillar 1 (encode-not-generate / carrier no-go) against its strongest 2026 assault

Stance: REFUTE the break by default; concede only a referee-survivable generative construction. Outcome: ATTACK-FAILS-VERDICT-HOLDS. The finder's self-reported FAILED-TO-FALSIFY is honest, web-grounded, and survives adversarial refutation. Every load-bearing citation web-verified; no fabrication, misattribution, or over-reading on any decisive claim.

What the finder got right (re-verified)

The strongest available 2026 falsifier — Fullwood-Vedral-Guzmán-González, arXiv:2604.07471 (8 Apr 2026) — is genuinely real and genuinely the most aggressive generation claim in the surveyed literature: it is the one construction that claims the Lorentzian (1,3) signature itself is an OUTPUT (via 'preservation of linear entropy' ⟹ preservation of det(ρ) = t²−x²−y²−z² ⟹ SL(2,ℂ) ⟹ SO⁺(1,3); singlet correlation = Minkowski metric on qubit-observable space). I confirmed the paper, its authorship, date, and the qubit/det/singlet chain verbatim against the abstract and HTML. The finder steelmanned it to its honest limit and did not strawman it.

Why the attack collapses — three independent defeaters, each web-verified, any one fatal

  1. The (1,3) signature is installed by the choice of carrier, not generated. Web-verified elementary fact (Stange notes; nLab): the determinant on Herm₂(ℂ) IS the signature-(1,3) quadratic form by construction — this is the textbook realization of Minkowski space — with SL(2,ℂ) adjoint action preserving it and double-covering SO⁺(1,3). Web-verified against the paper body: there is NO net, NO causal order, NO locality, NO observable-to-spacetime-point map; the result is an internal symmetry on the space of one/two qubits' observables ('Minkowski metric on the space of qubit observables,' not on spacetime). This is the η₀ / HYP-FACTORIZATION-IS-GEOMETRY route-5 failure: an indefinite form exists but is non-localizable.

  3. The constructors disclaim the break. Verified verbatim from the conclusion: the emergence mechanism 'remains an open and profound challenge,' and they only 'speculate' the SL(2,ℂ)→SO(1,3) map is 'a mathematical description of how spacetime emerges.' An honest falsification needs a referee-survivable generative construction; the authors concede they have an internal Lorentz symmetry, not generated spacetime.

Cross-check candidates — all real, all close at the same installation step

  • arXiv:2606.11984 (Modular quantization / emergent-Virasoro GNS): presupposes a fixed CFT cylinder + fixed reference KMS vacuum → ENCODE (g2/g3/g5). [verified-real]

Adversarial stress-test of the finder (did the finder under-state a real break?)

No. The decisive questions all resolve against the attack: (i) does it install a symmetry it claims to derive? — yes, the (1,3) signature and SO⁺(1,3) are the automorphism data of a fixed form on a fixed carrier, not dynamical outputs; (ii) does the proposed test co-class emergent vs fundamental? — it has no observable/test at all (pure kinematics), so it cannot be a reverse-Weinberg–Witten witness; (iii) is it a new decidable lever or a re-run of a closed one? — a re-run: a 2026 instance of the encoding screen closing at the named step, not a sixth convergence. The extraordinary-claim gate does not fire.
